Oath of the Gatewatch Draft
Confronted with overwhelming odds, the Planeswalkers face a dire choice: Retreat away to safety and leave the world to oblivion, or stay at great personal risk and fight for Zendikar.
Oath of the Gatewatch is the second set of Battle for Zendikar and features 184 new cards. When drafting we will be using 2 packs of Oath of the Gatewatch and 1 pack of Battle for Zendikar.
At the start of booster draft, each player opens a booster pack and picks a single card. (Don’t show the other players what you pick!) Then everyone passes the rest of their pack to player on their left, each player then picks a card from the pack they just received before passing again. This process continues until all the cards in those packs have been drafted. Then each player opens a second pack, but this time, you pass the pack to your right. After all those cards are drafted, you do the same with the third pack, passing to the left again.
Once all the packs have been drafted, everyone builds a deck from the cards they have selected. You may add as many basic lands (Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains, and Forests which are provided by the Tournament Organizer) to your deck as you’d like, but each deck must have at least 40 cards.
The only other thing you should consider bringing are dice and/or pad and paper to keep track of your life
Many payers also bring card sleeves and a play mat but those are certainly not required.
The cost is $14.00, which provides 3 packs that go into the draft and a 4th pack that will go into the prize pool. The prize packs will then be awarded to players who finish in the top half of the draft, this is most often to players with a record of 2 match wins or better.
